The Stroot nature reserve is located to the west of Enschede and covers around 60 hectares. A beautiful place to relax in the countryside.

Nature reserve t' Stroot covers 60 hectares with beautiful flora and fauna. Walking on this estate is permitted on certain designated paths. Here you will find a varied landscape with a wooded area, agricultural land, heathland and moorland. The largest heathland in Twekkelo is located around the 'Zwarte Ven' on 't Stroot estate. The birch and pine trees are occasionally cleared here so that the heather grows even more beautifully the following year.

The Zwarte Ven itself is exceptionally clean. Water pennywort, nanocyperion and marsh quendel grow on soil that is not so deep. The Zwarte Ven is not open to the public (like other parts of 't Stroot) and is therefore pure, untouched nature.

The walking routes around the Zwarte Ven are on publicly accessible land. For more information and beautiful walking routes, please visit our tourist information office.
