Thomas Ainsworthpark
The Thomas Ainsworth Park is a smaller park located along Pathmossingel in the Pathmos neighborhood.
Pathmossingel
The Thomas Ainsworth Park is named for Thomas Ainsworth, an English engineer, born Dec. 22, 1795 in Bolton 1st Moor and died Feb. 13, 1841 in Nijverdal.
Ainsworth was one of the founders of the textile industry in Twente. Thus, the naming fits well with the location of the park, in the working-class neighborhood of Pathmos, which was mainly inhabited by textile workers.
Originally the park had a pond, which was filled in at the end of the 1960s. Because of this pond, the Ainsworth park is still popularly known as “the duck park.
Dogs must be leashed in the park.
The park is open 24 hours a day.
