The cozy Oude Markt is the heart of the city. Restaurants, cafes, bars and night clubs surround the square with the medieval church at its center. In summer, the sun-drenched terraces fill up quickly. Love Italian food? Novi Gran Café is a great place on the Oude Markt for an Italian inspired bite at any time of the day. A few doors down, Fabels has a menu with something for everyone. Top off your lunch or dinner with a glass of wine or beer to make it even more special. Besides these restaurants, the Oude Markt is full of places to enjoy delicious food. From Spanish-style tapas and sushi to burgers and beer. The square is also great to stop for coffee and cake.

The streets around the Oude Markt hide even more eateries. Head to the Walstraat and explore the rich choice of international restaurants here. Lebanese, Indonesian, French, Spanish, Tex-Mex, Argentinian, Latin-American, Greek, Turkish... A walk through the Walstraat is like a trip around the world.
Starting at the Oude Markt and heading north, you walk past De Muur first. Grab a cone bag of fries here, called a patatje in Dutch. Across from this snack point you will see Café Het Bolwerk. A typical Dutch style cafe, it is a favorite spot for artists and creatives to drink a beer.
Beer enthusiasts follow the Stadsgravenstraat to the city brewery. They serve a large number of specialty beers, often created by Dutch microbreweries. The Stadsbrouwerij sells their own brewed beer as well.
A hotspot that you should not miss is Sapori e Ricordi. This family-run trattoria serves food from Apulia, a region in the southern part of Italy. Chef Rosa learned from her mother and nonna how to cook the Italian classics and brought them to Enschede. Simple, fresh food in a welcoming environment.

A good restaurant is an excellent reason to leave the city centre for a while. North of the train station lies the Deurningerstraat. Enjoy elegant Italian dishes in a classy ambiance at Verso. Ask for a table in the garden to give your dinner a romantic touch. Another recommended restaurant at the Deurningerstraat is TAO. The Japanese cuisine served includes sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki meat and fish specialities. TAO is rightly a local favorite.
Enschede is proud of its food hall. The Twentsche Foodhal has its home base in the former Polaroidfabriek, east of the city centre. The setting is casual and invites you to try out international delicacies. Nine kitchens surround an open-space area, where you can pick a table. Choose a dish from a menu, order at your favorite food stall and wait for it to be ready while enjoying a beer from a local microbrewery.
Surrounded by green trees and a pond, the Volkspark is a wonderful place in Enschede to eat out. Over there you can find restaurant Loetje. This Dutch restaurant chain is famous for its mouth-watering steaks. But the rest of the varied menu also promises to be delicious.
